It is believed that April Fool’s Day has its origin in France in the XVI century, when the new year was celebrated in the beginning of spring, during a week that ended on April 1. When the Gregorian calendar was adopted, in 1582, the French began to celebrate the year on January 1, and those who maintained the former habit became a pretext for jokes and lies. So every year on April 1, preposterous lies are told by the press, which are uncovered the next day. Therefore, April 2 is the truly special day; the only day of the year where telling the truth is the rule, because in matter of lying April 1 is no exception: no truth should ever spoil a great headline!
